Strain Profile

Vanilla Frosting

Vanilla Frosting descends from a somewhat secret genetic lineage. What we don’t know about her ancestry, we do know about her flavour, effects, and growing traits. Find out everything you need to know about this cultivar below. Strain History of Vanilla Frosting Humboldt Seed Company created Vanilla Frosting in their native state of California. Here, a team of biologists founded the company back in 2001. Equipped with an intensive knowledge of plant genetics, breeding, and physiology, the small team started out by breeding for patients under California’s Medical Marijuana Initiative. Since then, Humboldt Seed Company has developed a large range of genetics for both recreational and medicinal user bases. They created Vanilla Frosting not by importing genetics outside of their collection, but by crossing two of their most solid and reliable lines. This strain has gained a lot of traction in the states, and her unique terpene profile and relaxing high have expanded her sphere of influence overseas. Genetic Lineage of Vanilla Frosting Breeders at the Humboldt Seed Company reached into their own archive of genetics to pick out the parent strains for Vanilla Frosting. Learn more about these predecessors below: • Humboldt Frost: As a distinct phenotype of the original Humboldt strain, Humboldt Frost clocks in with a perfectly balanced genetic profile consisting of 50% indica genetics and 50% sativa. Much like the original Humboldt, the genetic lineage of this phenotype remains a mystery. However, it’s generally believed that she possesses a good amount of Afghani genetics. Breeders developed the original strain in Cali way back in the 1970s, and it found popularity in Europe during the 1990s. With an average THC content of around 18% and plenty of sweet and herbal terpenes, many users still enjoy Humboldt and her phenotypes for their motivating and upbeat high. • Humboldt Gelato Bx3: Humboldt has made very little information about this strain publicly accessible. However, we do know that the original Humboldt Gelato, also known as “Humboldt Gelato #33”, descends from Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies and Sunset Sherbet. It produces THC concentrations of up to 23% which, together with an abundance of sweet, sour, and creamy terpenes, exerts a long-lasting cognitive high. Physical Characteristics of Vanilla Frosting Vanilla Frosting’s morphology reflects her balanced genetic profile. Plants exhibit both indica and sativa traits wrapped up in one plant. Her stout and bushy structure, short internodes, and thick stems are representative of her indica heritage, whereas her relatively small leaves, with narrow leaflets, are what you’d expect to see in much more sativa-dominant strains. Left untrained, Vanilla Frosting will send up one large central inflorescence to a height of around 120cm, depending on the space given to her root systems. However, growers can apply a range of training techniques, such as topping, and select smaller pot sizes, to keep plants as small and compact as 60cm. Aesthetically speaking, Vanilla Frosting maintains a shade of dark green from the seedling stage up until the early flowering phase. Later in bloom, plants tend to develop a shade of deep purple as chlorophyll levels wane and anthocyanin concentration skyrocket. Certain environmental conditions, such as lower nighttime temperatures, strengthen this eye-catching colour. Vanilla Frosting produces dense nugget-like colas that possess a generous coating of trichomes and their viscous exudate. Their relatively low amount of sugar leaves and almost spherical shape make them easy to handle and quick to manicure. Properties/Effects of Vanilla Frosting Vanilla Frosting delivers a balanced high that targets both the body and the mind. Her moderate THC content of 20% works in synergy with trace amounts of CBG and high levels of myrcene, pinene, and caryophyllene to produce an uplifting and creative high that helps users maintain focus. As the peak of the high passes, users experience an after-glow in the form of a gentle body high that relaxes the muscles and ramps up the appetite. Uses of Vanilla Frosting No scientific studies have assessed the therapeutic potential of Vanilla Frosting. However, anecdotal reports describe users harnessing the strain in attempts to treat the following symptoms: • Anxiety • Stress • Depression Cultivation/Production of Vanilla Frosting Vanilla Frosting grows well in a range of environments, including indoors within grow tents, in greenhouses, and directly in the ground under the open sky. The small size of this strain allows growers to cultivate single plants in small spaces, from cupboards to converted boxes. However, those with more room who desire to grow smaller plants can weave 9–12 plants together using the sea of green technique to produce a massive harvest. With a flowering time of approximately 60 days, growers don’t have to wait long between flipping their crop to bloom and processing their buds. Vanilla Frost
