Strain Profile
Do big bowls of sugary cereal remind you of your childhood? Now you can spark up those fond memories with big bowls of Cereal Milk weed. Bred and popularized by the Cookies brand, Cereal Milk is a hybrid cannabis strain with a sweet, milky aroma, up to 25% THC, and hard-hitting yet balanced effects. Read on to learn about this strain, its origins, effects, and more. Strain History of Cereal Milk Cereal Milk is a member of the Cookies family—arguably one of the biggest brands and genetic lineages in modern cannabis. Founded in 2010, Cookies became a household name after the launch of GSC, which, over 10 years later, continues to be the brand's flagship strain. Led by grower Jai/Jigga and rapper and entrepreneur Berner, Cookies has flourished not only because of the quality of its strains but also its immersion in hip-hop and street culture. After wowing smokers with the launch of Girl Scout Cookies (now rebranded as GSC due to cease and desist letters from the American Girl Scouts), the Cookies brand showed no signs of stopping. Sunset Sherbet, Cherry Pie, Gelato, and Biscotti are all strains that, in one way or another, are connected to the Cookies brand (or its predecessor, the Cookies Collective). Cereal Milk is one of Cookies' latest creations, developed from a mix of Cookies and Cherry Pie strains. As its name suggests, it boasts a creamy, sweet aroma and produces a relaxed, giggly high. Genetic Lineage of Cereal Milk Cereal Milk was bred from a cross of different Cookies and Cherry Pie phenotypes. It was created by Powerzzzup Genetics, a collective breeding effort led by Ken The PieGuy and Jason Mejia, and quickly became a best-seller under the Cookies brand. Y Life, Cereal Milk's first parent strain, is a unique cross of GSC and Cherry Pie. Very little is known about this strain, but it's rumored to produce high THC levels (over 20%) and a relaxing, but not sleepy, high. Its aroma is reported to be gassy (a little reminiscent of GG4) but with very upfront sweet Cookie overtones. Some users report that Y Life has a uniquely uplifting effect, potentially speaking to a slight sativa dominance in its genetics. Snowman, Cereal Milk's second parent, is also beloved for its uplifting and creative effects. Its exact origins aren't clear; some claim it's a unique cross of different Cookies strains, while others suggest that it's a GSC phenotype with a more creative high. Cereal Milk's Physical Characteristics Cereal Milk isn't available in seed or clone form and is grown exclusively by Cookies and its affiliated breeders and brands. However, some seed banks and geneticists have started offering their own versions of the Cereal Milk strain. The original Cereal Milk by Cookies exhibits some indica-leaning traits in its morphology. The plants seem to develop a strong central stem with tightly spaced nodes, few side branches, and broad, dark leaves. As they finish flowering, Cereal Milk plants take on beautiful dark hues and a thick layer of trichomes that give their flowers a glazed, milky sheen. As you'd expect from a strain of this caliber, Cereal Milk by Cookies produces incredibly dense flowers with bulging calyxes and extra-high concentrations of cannabinoids and terpenes. On the other hand, the physical traits of Cereal Milk strains bred by other seed banks vary considerably. However, most varieties seem to be slightly indica-leaning, and can also take on beautiful dark purple hues in the late stages of flowering, given the right conditions. When fed and grown properly, these varieties also produce dense flowers with plenty of resin. Properties/Effects of Cereal Milk Cereal Milk is a very potent strain, packing between 22–25% THC. Some varieties may also contain up to 1% CBG, but this strain has been bred to be predominantly rich in THC. Its effects, as you'd expect from such a potent strain, are strong and kick in very quickly. According to some reports, Cereal Milk is rich in caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene, which combine to give the strain a unique creamy and fruity aroma with hints of gas and vanilla—reminiscent of the smell of milk left behind in a bowl of sugary cereal you just devoured. Cookies describes Cereal Milk's effects as a "relaxing body feel with a happy head high". And most user reports match this description. After one or two tokes, you can expect a happy euphoria to wash over your brain, leaving you in a carefree, creative, and social mindset—ideal for staying productive or focusing on creative tasks like writing, painting, music, etc. Accompanying this relaxing cerebral buzz is a soothing body stone that may ease tension and leave you feeling calm, clear-headed, and warm. Cereal Milk's Uses Cereal Milk is an extremely popular strain among both medical and recreational cannabis users. Reviews of the strain suggest it can be used for a wide variety of purposes. Most recreational smokers, for example, suggest that Cereal Milk's uplifting...
