Psilocybe mexicana

The species used in Maria Sabina's Mazatec ceremonies and the first to have psilocybin isolated by Albert Hofmann at Sandoz Labs in 1958. Also produces sclerotia. Central to the history of Western psychedelic research. Small brown mushrooms with a long ethnobotanical record stretching back to Aztec "teonanácatl."
